Innisbrook once again hosted the West Coast year end Championship Tournament on the South and challenging Island Course. Fifty two members competed in five flights for coveted bragging rights.
A very special thank you to Carrie Bell, and her team of Barb Wellard, Louise Riely Moore and Sue Fisher who did an outstanding job hosting the tournament. And we can’t forget Jake Cummins who helped with all the scoring and announcements.
Day 1 in the middle of the lunar eclipse we played the South Course which was the easier of the two, as long as you didn’t three putt the greens 😊 and the squirrels didn’t grab your snacks.
Day 2 was on the Island Course, a very beautiful and challenging course playing 5,460 yards that wandered through trees and around lots of water. Shot placement was key.
Scores were posted on Golf Genius so I think players were watching the leaderboard and playing accordingly.
We were thrilled that past presidents Jenni Marshall and Mary Ann Neary joined us for lunch on Tuesday.

The greens were tricky so thank you (most of the time 😊) to Greens Superintendent Ryan Stewart. A very nice lunch was served on Tuesday and dinner Monday – to thank Chef David Morris and Dining Room Manager Sefane C. And finally thank you to the General Manager Bobby Barnes for working with us to put a nice package together for the tournament.
WCWGA Annual Meeting
During lunch we held our annual WCWGA meeting. The last board meeting was reviewed, and treasurers report given. Minutes will be posted on the website for those interested. www.wcwga.com . Of highlight – Isla Del Sol on Tierra Verde has now joined West Coast for the 2024 – 25 season and we are working on others.
